OTT software development by Prophecius

Streaming across mobile, web and television, with the delivery economics under control.

Streaming is a distribution business with a software problem attached. Content acquisition sets the ceiling; encoding, delivery cost and playback reliability decide whether the business underneath it works.

We build OTT platforms - apps across phone, web, smart TV and console, plus the content, rights and monetisation systems behind them - for broadcasters, publishers, studios and niche subscription services.

What we build for OTT businesses

  • Multi-platform apps - iOS, Android, web, Apple TV, Android TV, Fire TV, Roku and Samsung with a consistent experience across all of them.
  • Adaptive streaming and DRM - ABR delivery with Widevine, FairPlay and PlayReady protection, plus offline downloads under licence control.
  • Content management and rights - Ingest, metadata, scheduling, geo-restriction and windowing that reflect real licensing agreements.
  • Monetisation models - Subscription, transactional rental, ad-supported and hybrid tiers, including server-side ad insertion.
  • Live and linear streaming - Live events, virtual channels, catch-up and start-over playback alongside on-demand libraries.
  • Recommendations and analytics - Personalised discovery plus playback quality analytics covering start time, rebuffering and completion.

Why OTT teams choose Prophecius

  • Delivery cost controlled - Encoding ladders, CDN strategy and storage tiering tuned to your actual viewing patterns.
  • Rights handled properly - Geo-blocking, windowing and concurrency enforced in the platform, not tracked in a spreadsheet.
  • Every screen that matters - TV platforms treated as first-class targets, where most watch time actually happens.
  • Monetisation flexibility - Move between subscription, ad-supported and hybrid without re-platforming.

OTT questions we are asked most

Which TV platforms should we launch on first?

Usually Apple TV and Android TV, then Roku, Fire TV and Samsung based on your audience geography. TV apps carry disproportionate watch time but each store has its own certification process, so sequencing matters for launch timelines.

How much does content delivery cost at scale?

It is driven by hours streamed, bitrate ladder and CDN pricing. The biggest lever is encoding strategy - a well-tuned ladder can cut delivery cost substantially with no perceptible quality difference. We model this against your projected viewing before build.

Can we run subscription and advertising together?

Yes, and hybrid is now the dominant model. Tiered plans with server-side ad insertion on cheaper tiers let one library serve both, without client-side ad blocking undermining the ad revenue.
